Fire Rated Glazing
Specialists in Commercial Glass Supply
Fire Rated Glazing is the generic term for a family of glasses dedicated to the protection from fire.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
All Fire Rated Glasses MUST be installed within a certified Fire System. We highly recommend you seek professional advice regarding the use and installation of these systems.
Fire Rated Glasses are normally classified into two main performance categories, Integrity and Insulation; these categories are represented by a number that shows in minutes the amount of protect given i.e. a glass classified as a 60/30 will give 60 minutes Integrity and 30 minutes Insulation.
Integrity
Integrity is basically the measurement of how long the unit will remain within the framing system, ensuring that no flames are able to pass through into the protected area.
Although glasses with an Integrity classification contain flames within the danger area they do not however stop the transmittance of heat from the fire.
Insulation
Insulation is the measurement of protection from radiated heat through the glass into the protected area; this ensures a safe passage when exiting the building.
All fire rated performance is relative to the framing system used, in other words the glass will only protect for the duration of the framing systems integrity.
We are able to supply various Fire Rated Glasses ranging from 30/0 to 90/90.
